Catch Ya Cruisin... Gup

I can tell you who is NOT coming on a road trip. There were plenty of entrants that forgot their cars need to be maintained after last years flogging. Greg in his real nice orange HQ as some will have seen ended his weekend at the start of the main straight on Friday morning. He didn’t get a full lap in which wasn’t the worst thing that happened on the weekend for him. On the back straight inside his first half of a lap, he was toasted by his mate Tony in his XF ute, then was wasted by Bluey driving my “slow” green HQ everyone calls Pricilla. So not only did Greg get wasted at least twice in his first lap, he didn’t manage to complete a full lap. Some may say that’s bad luck but Greg also managed to not complete his first lap at Powercruise 2008 and 2007 so if there was a hard luck trophy Greg you should have it in the bag mate.
There were plenty of other similar stories no doubt as many cars didn’t last the first day due to expelling engine parts on the track. I found the end of a conrod still with crank journal firmly bolted inside it on the front straight but over the years entrants have slowly realised that taking it easy on the first day is mostly a good idea. Then again those words don’t go well with 500hp under your foot and your mates screaming at you to make sure you chop that skyline next to you. Ahh the fun of it all which brings back memories of the Sunday roasting I gave our mate FATGTR. On Saturday I couldn’t quite get Elvis to pass him with the shitty Powerskid tyres I had on so it was 1-0 to the fat man. Then Sunday came and after a front straight assassination of the fatgtr, old mate hung his head in his hands and realised there was plenty more where that came from. His mate did video it but he forgot to put up the Sunday version so check out utube for the action. Either way I’m sure after 1-1 the fatman will be back with more power. I’ll be sure to have the right tyre selection on mate.
Another memorable run was against a hks skyline….why skylines you ask.. cause their bloody fast and some need a lesson that old school muscle still rules. After all they go around looking to waste v8’s so the least I can do is balance the ledger. So with that said I’ll just let you to click the link to see what happened in this run but the main thing there was thumbs up all round. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WXte4jRQEX8
I also got out after this cruise session in elvis against the hks skyline and jumped into a mates XF Ute. We cruised, had about 20 races with all sorts of cars. A few surprised looks as I was in the passenger seat from those we raced. And I was surprised at the number of laps we got in for the 15 minute we were there. The car was no slouch that’s for sure so a few wins and a few losses but overall it was thumbs up each time from everyone we raced. Upon our return to the pits, I jumped into Gary’s wagon for a back seat cruise. Well with about 300 more hp than the ute I was just in it was certainly more exciting and it seems everyone wants to race the sleeper looking wagon but to their surprise there is no sleeping engine in this thing. Mid 10’s at the drags will take care of most at Powercruise but with that said we got beaten by a few here and there and again thumps up all round. I think I had the best 30 minutes of the event in these 2 cruises so I saw first hand what it is that everyone loves about Powercruise. Yeah the line ups can be long but it’s been that way for a long time now so most are used to it. But by the time you get out on track and get some laps in that’s all forgotten and the stories that come out of those cruise sessions is what makes for great stories around the bar at the pub or the bbq at home.
And that’s what the Carline Mufflers Powercruise is all about.
